Default Another oil pressure thread

Well here's my issue: Engine got a cam stuck in it mechanic said cam bearings needed replacing so he said he replaced them. I don't remember what my oil pressure was before. I noticed when I went with 10-30 oil pressure seemed to be real real low like in the 10's at idle which was way too low for my comfort. I went with 10-40 on the next oil change and seemed to alleviate some of it. It sits about 20ish in idle while hot about 30-40 around 2k while driving and it goes up closer to 60 when I go wot. Does this sound about normal? or should I be replacing the oil pump to fix the oil pressure issue. I don't want to tear into the car and do all the work and have the same results.

That is technically within specification. GM specifies as little as 7 PSI when hot at idle.

That is way too low for my liking even with 10-30W oil in there

It might not be the oil pump that is causing the low pressure problem. It could be a cam bearing not setup correctly or a pinched o-ring on the pickup tube...

I know for a fact its not the o ring because it did that before and I broke my oil pan and went ahead and replaced the o-ring while I was in there to see if it fixed my oil pressure issue but pressure remained the same after the replacement.

Back up that # with a mechanical gauge. And unless you built an engine to see that kinda pressure, it isn't in spec. Idc what anyone says.

Forgot to mention I have one installed and the numbers are pretty close to what the dash shows.
