Default Clearance issues with cam....advice needed ..

I recently purchased a 00 trans am with a lingengelter mt1 cam specs are 229/242 114lsa 631/631.. My issue is the rev limiter is set at 6400 because the previous owner said the cam was too big to go any higher.. Can anyone
Confirm this..

Sounds like the PO was blowing smoke...
Ask him if he bothered to check piston to valve clearance.
What other mods are in the engine?
That's A LOT of cam for a stocker.

Yep.

PTV should have been checked at install. If the PTV is too big and they still worry about contact they may have cheaped out on springs.

Hey guys,it has comp dual valve springs and Hardened pushrods ...other mods include hooker long tubes ..volant intake and dynomac bullets..just seems like .631 lift can handle more rpm.s than 6400 you know..but that is a big *** cam for an ls1...

Had that cam in my stock short block with ported LPE LS6 heads that have 2.02/1.59 valves. And the heads were milled to 62cc and used a .052 GM MLS gasket. There was more than enough PTV clearance. You will have more with stock size valves/chambers.

Set my rev limiter to 7000 rpm.
