Default another build thread!

Hey all. Just bought a 02 trans am ws6 that supposedly had a forged bottom end. (YAY FOR BOOST!) Well, the bottom end is stock now that the motor is out --- So what are you guys recommendations for having a boosted engine.. I've already purchased an on3 performance kit with the 76mm turbo, now deciding what to do with the engine. I'm trying to keep my budget under 5500 for the motor. I was thinking 317 heads but I have the stock 241s. Someone local is selling a LQ4 for $400 so I'm thinking of going that route. I've priced out a whole rotating assembly from texas-speed for about $2500.. Going to get the block checked Monday and that's the route I was going to go, but would like to hear input. What do you guys think?

You can order a Boost-spec 370cid 6L shortblock from Thompson Motorsports for like 2950+shipping. I think they can set you up with 317 heads (ported), gaskets, bolts, and a custom spec cam in a built long block for about 5500 as well.

Depending on how much power you're going to put out, either your stock block with a forged rotating assembly (and the stock crank is good to like 1000 hp) or the Iron block with a stock crank or a crank with a stroke that's 3.8" or less. Why? Well, ringland support is the main reason...

AES builds 390s with these shorter stroker cranks into 6L iron blocks. I'd look into that as well, even though that costs a bit more.

We have forged piston and rod long blocks set up at 9.65:1 and good to 800HP including a 1 year warranty for only $4538. We also have our boost king series with CNC ported heads, stainless valves, dual springs for $5889. Let us know if we can help you with the build in any way.
Thank you for the referral Jakefusion.

No problem, Kyle.

I'm still looking at your guys. I've just about got my engine out on the stand. If it looks pretty rough when I take it apart I'm going to have a come to Jesus with my wife on putting that back in the car... lol

And if it goes as planned, I can foresee a TMS 370 in my car soon.
