What should I expect with this setup?
This is my first build, ever, so I have been pondering it for years. Within the last year I acquired the engine (2007 LM7), and tore it down to find a destroyed cam and a couple of destroyed lifters (all thanks to a trusty FRAM filter). Anyhow, I have the engine all built back up minus push rods (still needing to measure). I am curious as to what I might see with setup. This is going into a 1992 S10 Ext. Cab Pickup (sentimental value) Opinions wanted!
2007 LM7 5.3L block
Stock refreshed crank
ARP main studs (align hone completed)
Clevite H Main bearings
Compstar 6.125 H-Beam Rods (ARP 2000 Bolts)
Clevite H Rod bearings
Wiseco -2.2cc forged flat top pistons w/ valve reliefs
Stock 862 heads rebuilt with new Enginetech valves and milled .003 (to clean up the surface)
GMPP ASA cam
LS6 Springs
LS2 timing chain
Ported LS6 oil pump
Stock rockers for now
This will be a carbed setup with a Vic. Jr, and probably a 700/750 DP.
Mating it with a T56 and probably throwing an 8.8 out back.
I know I spent a bunch of money on this setup, but I want the short block to last. I plan on eventually pulling out the ASA cam setup and doing a F/I setup, but that is down the road. I have included some photos of the build.

Yes, everything is new besides the crank, heads, rockers, cam gear and crank gear, Lol. Engine originally had 117K when it was pulled. Any comments on this build? What kind of numbers might I see?

That's about what I was thinking N/A. I know a good free flowing exhaust can really wake up the ASA cam, which I plan to have. I know the stock 862's will hinder some performance due to the stock flow numbers. If I can get 350-375rwhp N/A, I will be more than pleased.

It was originally a 2.8L (125 HP)/T5 truck (138K orig miles) and I just can't get rid of the 3rd pedal, even if it will cost more money to keep it around. Like I said up top, the sentimental value holds true with this one. Is my first vehicle, and had a lot of good experiences in it. More to come, obviously!

Yea third pedal def raises the fun factor, plus the t56 gives you 3 over drive gears lol, you get the best of both worlds, fun and gas mileage...I will tell you though those 7.5" 10 bolts aren't the strongest...but until you blow it up i wouldn't waste time changing it, mine lives for 80k miles of abuse until I put slicks on it and that was it lol, street tires help it live that's for sure!

I figure if I can find an 8.8 on the cheap I might as well just go ahead and buy it then get the gears for it. I plan on having it on the street next Spring/Summer, so there is still time to see what's out there. The hardest part is going to be finding a used T56 to send to Tick. Jegs has a Hurst Driveline T56, but its $3,000! I'd like to find a used one and have Tick rebuild it to stage 2 specs, I could have a built tranny for under $2300 if I find a good core. Those Driveline's are badass trannys though. 700 FT/LBS rating out of the box. Lol

Hey I got a super t10 4 speed behind my 5.3 and its fun as hell and you can find those for around $5-800 and all you need it a truck flywheel and you can run a regular chevy 10.4 or 11" clutch kit...just a thought, or just throw you t5 in there and drive til it gives up...I know those t56s aren't cheap...especially when an lt1 t56 won't work and of course those are the cheap ones

Yeah, but after spending $4600 on the long block, might as well make the rest of the drive train strong too. I still have $1500 in front suspension work to do this winter. Here are some photos of the actual truck.
The last one is a photo from May 2010 when she was still driving around. Yes, she has been in numerous wrecks. Hence the new paint. Lol
There is still some frame work to be done after the truck is drivable again.
