Default New bearings or not?

Well just picked up a 5.3 l33 short block with around a 100k on it just wondering whether I should go ahead and just put new bearing and rings in the motor since it would be easy to do now and be a worry out of my mind

Sure why not. Not really necessary but it will be fresh. Have the heads freshens while you are at it.

Whats a good gap (plastigauge) when doing this. I'm thinking about doing the same with the lm7 I picked up. similar miles.

I would go with what the bearing manufacturer recommends.

I am going down this same path...

I assume any of the bolts that are taken off of the rods / mains car re-useable and nothing to really watch out for other than proper torque sequence after replacing bearings?

I will probably not take the pistons out of their bore, just new bearings and go.
