cam and lifters break in lube

I used Redline assembly lube because it dissolves as soon as oil hits it. I used it on the cam, lifters, pushrod ends, valve stem ends, timing chain and even in the oil pump. The oil pump suction was incredible with the lube in it and the oil pressure came up very quickly.
Whatever you use, try to get a brand without particulate in it.

If you build a LS engine that will be stored a while before installation, then use assembly lube. If you are swapping in a cam/lifters and starting it right up, all you need is regular engine oil. These motors have roller lifters and a billet cam, they ain't the old school small block Chevy flat lifters.
