Im thinking MS3... should perform nicely in a lightweight manual trans car. But. Im new to building LS engines like I said before. So further research is required

That might be too much cam for a 5.3 though.. perhaps a 228R
I appreciate all the guidance you guys have given me thus far

Okay guys, I did some thinking and some research.

I've decided to go with a holley hp efi setup, Victor JR, ls1 throttle body on a elbow, with a 228R.

Only thing I need to research is what sensors I need to run for the efi system.

And if I would be better off running the ignition from the holley system or run a 6LS separately

Ok, Car Craft has done a cpl of articles on the LM7 and I've read 1 of them . They bought a junk yard LM7 and started putting a carb/intake I believe a Holley 750 and an MSD ignition controller not sure if it's the 6-AL or what and long tubes then dynoed it and it went up to 335 flywheel hp and I believe 350 lb./ft. Then They put valve sprngs and a *****-Thumper cam the big 1 and it jumped from 335 to 431flywheel hp which would be about 350 or so rwhp and 360 lb./ft. but the neat part is that cam raised the redline from 5600 to 6800 rpm's ,,,,,wow . Then They tested it with 2 different prs. of heads the second of which were cnc'ed and the lesser heads made like 440 or there abouts and I believe 375 lb./ft. then the cnc'ed heads made 459 flywheel and 398 lb./ft.
There was an article in Hot Rod Magazine back in 1997 or 98 comparing some different 4 barrel carbs. They tested a Barry Grant, I believe 2 different Holleys, an Edelbrock and Quadrajet and overall the Quadrajet won. Sure the Barry Grant made about 1 or 2 ponnies more than any of them and had the smoothest power curve but the Quadrajet was alot cheaper , made within 1 or 2 hp as the BG and had a fairly smooth power curve

Leave it bone stock including the cam. Buy head studs and HG's and throw a $230 Gt45 turbo on it. It will be cheaper and make more power than an aftermarket cam and or headwork.
