Default give me your thoughts on this cam

I bought this cam used for 225.00 it has 4000 mi on it. it is a sd0067 z+221 yes I know its small but I bought it for my 6.0 conversion in my 68 truck because it does not need a stall. anyhow when I looked the first time I thought it looked great. today I was checking it real good and I noticed a spot on it. it does not look like a wear spot, but more like a ding from install or something. so what do you think is it junk or is it ok.

the lobe in question is the one on the right the spot is on the edge on the left had side of the ramp. the lobe on the left has a dark spot at the bottom but I think that's just the wd 40 and the way the pic came out. the spot is not real rough but noticeable. I think the roller will ride on a small fraction of it. but its not like a huge gouge that you can catch your nail on or anything. im just curious if anyone else seen this or had dealings. other than this spot you can barly see where the sides of the rollers were rolling if at all just shiny in the middle of the lobes

That one lobe looks rough. I'd be leery of running it. Remember, the spring pressures and RPMs turning put a lot of stress on those lobes with the roller lifter. All it takes is a piece of that to flake off and get caught in a cam or main bearing and you'll have some issues.

I would never put that cam near my motor. see if you can get your money back and get a new cam. I never understood why people try to save an extra $100 or so on one of the most important parts of their engines.

Angry cam

yea I think yall are right. I sent some pics to cam motion and bob told me it looked like a rod might have smacked it. people on craigslist are just sorry sometimes. Any how I decided to send it to cam motion so they can make sure its not bent. he may or may not be able to clean it up since its on the edge of the lobe. If not then I have to make the decision to regrind it or chalk it up as a loss. of course the seller is no where to be found. it sucks because its 175 for a regrind. I could have went new and bigger! but then id have to shell out more for a stall. I can probably gain lift and duration with a regrind so.... any how never meet in a parking lot at around dark and buy a cam when you really cant handle it much and look it over good! I say shame on me for not paying more attention, guess that's what excitement does to you!!!!

Thumbs up update!

Hey guys i just wanted to give props to Bob at cammotion! He got the cam thurs, checked it polished all the lobes and sent it back out. He did not call caus he wanted to suprise me. He said a rod did nt hit it and that he did not know where that cam from. It was not an indention but it was like something pressed to the lobe. He said the cam had pretty much no wear and that now its polished and you cant tell it from a new one! I have not had a service experiance lik this ever. He simply said ship it to me and send the money to cover return shipping and i will check it out and make sure it straight and does not need a regrind. Im really surprised there are still good people out there like him. So if your looking for a good cam and great service i recomend cam motion!
