Default Which bore head gasket do I need?

Going on a 408...so 4.030" bore with LS3 heads. I need a .040" thick gasket, but not sure of what bore. I see cometic makes a 4.085 bore gasket, will that work?

Don't know what size the combustion chamber of the ls3 heads is, but you need to choose a gasket the will clear the bigger of the 2 sizes. So if the block bore is bigger than the cc in the head go with a gasket that clears 4.030". If the cc's in the head are bigger go with a gasket that clears the heads. Hope that makes sence.

Conan, you have the right idea but using wrong comparison. You are comparing a circle diameter (bore) to head cc (volume). What you meant was cylinder bore to head chamber bore. And yes go with a gasket at least .030 bigger than biggest bore.

So.. 0.30 bigger will solve the valve shrouding issue on the 6.0 4.030 bore?
The heads are stock ls3 70cc
What is the idea ?
And why people used to say go bigger on the lift?
Am glad that someone like you participating in this
