Default I need a lil help getting started in the right direction.

Things are going GREAT right now, to make a long story short, I've gotten more financial stable to be able to take a loan out of the bank to fix my oil consumption problems that GM wouldnt help me fix. I want to PERMINATLY fix this problem in my LS1, and get more horsies too. My budget cant be any more than $10,000 bucks. So with that money I'll have to include labor, a new 12-bolt, and a new clutch along with whatever I decided to do to fix my problem. There's so many route's i can take to fix my 3 quarts every 3K miles problem but I want to do it right the first time if at all possible to stick under 10K... What route should I go with?

I've had people tell me that the only way to perminatly fix the problem is to bore out the block, and thats the route i was kinda intrested in, but for 10K to spend and all the other parts and labor I would need would probably set me over 10K I just want to get an idea of what I need to get done so I can decide what I need to do. Within the next 2 months mmy car should be sitting in the shop ready to start work. Thanks guys

But could I get a complete engine, that would get me some low 12's for 6-7k? If not, I'd be better off spending all the cash into fixing up the block I have now. I thought about going with a 6.0 lieter iron block also, but then I'd be transfering more weight to the front vs. to the back where i need it. I guess I'm looking for the most bang for your buck

ap has some inexpensive motors check the sponsors------->

cams are cheap enough and you can get a good set of heads for $1000 and up with no core needed in some cases and easily have a mid 11 second car for $5-6k

Just looking on their site I see you can get a 347 with 6.0 stage 2 heads for 6k. If you call them it probably will be better

Well, what do you guys think about this... I've been doing some re-search ALL freakin day up here at work, and i think this is the plan I may go with.

Hone the cylinders, go with forged JE pistons, pretty big cam, asp, headers with true duals, new clutch, 12-bolt with 3.73's (4.10's may be to much if I want to run 10's someday) and maybe a dyno tune, IF all of that would cost me under 10K including labor since i dont have the shop, lift, tools, or the time..

Now keep in mind my goal for this car is to eventually get it into the 11's and go 10's with some spray. With that setup and maybe some new heads on down the road would I be pretty close to 11's? I know it would bust a mid to low 12's but I really want an 11 sec. reliable daily driver.
