Default Confused about cams??????

New here and this is my first post, so be gentle. I've done lots of reading here and on other forums looking for info on doing a cam swap in my '00 GMC Sierra 1500 with a 4.8 AT. I'm more confused now than I was before I started researching this. I'm looking to go mild, probably nothing larger than 212/218, 522/529 114lsa. I'm looking for more lower to mid range torque. My searching is pointing me to an LS2 cam. Trouble is, I was told that the LS2 cam uses a front reluctor for cam sensor and my 4.8 has a rear one. Can anyone verify this? If it is true can a rear reluctor be put on the LS2 cam? And any other info you care to pass along would be appreciated.

The reluctor is casted into the rear section of the cam, meaning it cannot be removed or added after the fact. The cam either has it or doesn't. This is common with Gen3 engines, and in the transition over to Gen4 (a close variant) a small amount of things changed, one being the reluctors number and location. The exact details I'm not sure on so you'd have to research the where/when but somewhere in the mid 2000s was when it was switching over. What about an old style Z06 cam?

Also, I have a set of GM yellow beehives for sale if you're interested, good to .550 lift.

I looked up the Z06 cam and from what you say, I'll probably only be able to use the '01 cam because of the reluctor. Is this correct because the later version ('02-'04) will probably use a front reluctor?
I haven't pulled my cam yet, but looking on line at pics, I see what apperars to be a half?? circle on the rear of the cam (just before the rear journal), is this the reluctor?

The LS6 in 01-04 C5Zs should have the reluctor @ the back of the cam...and yesn that is the reluctor at the rear of the cam
