Can I put a 5.3 crank into an ls1 without any issues?

No, it's very important that the new crank is balanced to the exsisting rods and pistons.

Otherwise there'll be vibration like that old pan head Harley. Lots of shake, rattle, and roll but not much else.

It can be balanced, but I would not suggest bolting it in and running it with LS1 internals without being balanced first.
