Default Piston Clap

I know there are a lot of threads on this issue, but i have a few questions. I just recently noticed the piston clap 200 miles ago after switching from Mobil 1 to Valvoline. Has any one noticed the piston clap after changing oil brands? can anyone recommend solutions for the annoying noise? The car just recently turned over 65,000 Miles.

-Thanks

I tried different brands , regular oil and synthetic and even tried a 10w-30 ( hoping that the thicker oil would cling to the cylinder wall better) to no avail. Happened to have the car at the dealers and asked them to check it out. Bottom line is dont worry about it and no real fix. So I just run synthetic ( Valvoline) 5w-30 and let it slap until it warms up. Starting to look real hard at that brand new 6.0 LQ4 sitting in my garage, would be agood winter project, that would stop the piston slap if I swapped out engines.

10w-30 and 5w-30 are the same once they heat up, the 10w is slightly thicker on start up, but it sounded like you had constant piston slap...

Thanks for the responses, I say you get that lq4 in there its a good excuse! The "clap" isnt constant but just those few minutes before start up **** me off, makes the car sound like complete sh**. i tried adding a quart of 10w (i was a quart low anyways) to quiet it down, no such luck. I guess i'm stuck with it unless the wife lets me start a new project..

The LQ4 is a real possibility. Down side is that it adds over 100 pounds (iron block) to the front end. Not sure how it will handle with that extra weight. I installed a set of Bilsteins shocks and springs at all 4 corners and she handles well, hate to give that up.

All the extra torque from the lq4 will send that weight to the rear
