No, it won't. The heat can cause problems. Just get a really good trans cooler.

If you do swap converters is is imperative that you use a cooler line cleaner, when I cleaned my cooler lines there was some seriously nasty black **** that came out...if you don't clean all that stuff will contaminate your new converter
Not a mechanic I would trust with anything tranny related. All the good 4L60E builders will recommend quality 9.5" units and those start at about 2800-3000stall.
Far as cooling yes you have to stop an automatic tranny from overheating BUT that said modern converters don't build that much heat and a tranny does need to be operated warm at least, over 160 anyway. I have a modest size aftermarket cooler in place of the factory cooler and I have more trouble keeping the tranny warm enough don't think I have ever seen it go over 195.

As long as you keep it cool you'll be fine. Also be aware the higher the str the hotter it might run. My ss3600 has a str of 2.5 and isnt all that bad heat wise with the cooler I have.
