Default Questions about stock ls1 blocks

How far can you usually bore a stock block? I just got one and would love to be able to take it out to 4". Is that usually to much?

aluminum ls1/ls6 3.89 to 3.905 if you have lq4 block which is 4" bore could go as much as 4.06" safely. if you want bigger bore need resleeved block or c5r block

LS-1 blocks are sleeved. You can't really bore a sleeve to much. There only so thick. Boring or honing I might say, should only be taken to around 3.905. You won't really pick up any cubes from it. Best thing to do is by a 4.00" crank and build a 382 with the stock bore.

Like they said above if you want to stick with the aluminum block and not sleeve it a clean up bore is all you can really do to 3.905,
