Default Rebuild and Mod LS1 or Go bigger?

Ive been gathering all my parts, Ported FAST 90/90, LT Headers, AI 226 cc 243 heads W/ matched DD Cam, 3600 Stall converter, ordering a Level V
4L60E from RPM Monday plus some other small power adders. Car might not see any track time maybe just to get a 1/4 time. I really just want a real bad *** weekend street vehicle that could be a DD if necessary and might see 500-1000 miles road trips once or twice a year.

The rebuild alone costs about $3200.00, and I'm going to be calling the shop to schedule the car to go in really soon. Could you guys let me know of some other alternatives that might be overlooked instead of rebuilding the good ole LS1 : ( ? I remember a guy saying he'd just go with a bigger block more CI, let me know some benefits or best ways to maximize a build fellaz.

Thank,

Bryant

I was in the same situation not long ago, and decided to go with a Thompson Motorsports 370ci LQ9. Bolted my heads, cam and intake right up to it. After researching this was my best overall bang for the buck choice

Oh yeah Happy Thanksgiving to everyone also! Yeah the mods are basically the same, how's that engine working out for you?

Yeah happy Thankgiving man! This new engine is working out great. With the extra 24 cubes and higher compression (11.5:1) it's definitely up on power from the old setup, and noticeably more torquey which is fun. Sometimes I wish I would've spent the little extra $$$ and had it built to a 408, but money was a factor at that moment, and with the heads I currently have I don't think it would've been optimal.

I've looked at the 408 LQ9's on Texas Speed, and I see the Gen III's are
LS1/6 style. I just dont know if my head, cam and intake would be suitable or optimal for that setup. I'd hate to leave HP on the table if all I may need is a Grand$$ or so.

If you are looking at $3200 to rebuild your LS1 I think you will be much happier going with something like our 408CI LQ9 for only $3849. Give us a call and we can get something going for you.
Thank you,
Kyle

I have a 408 and will be sending my 243's I just bought to AI to rework them.Im currently running some lightly ported 317's and believe I will pick up a good bit with ported 243's and new cam to compliment the new heads.I think you should save up the extra money and go 408 and never regret not doing it.

Just my two cents
