Is this normal wear?

Is this normal wear? So I am in midway through heads and cam install. I noticed a lot of charring on the top of the piston. Normal? The cylinders are smooth and you can still see the cross hatching. Car has 93,000 on it.
Looks normal to me. Here's a pic of a good running lq9 I picked up. Edit: That's not scaring on the cylinder wall. I smudged some of the carbon build up before taking the picture

yeah normal looks just like my ls1 when I did my heads and cam. just carbon on pistons
I cleaned my off with coumbustion chamber cleaner and razor blade one by one at each cylinder at tdc spray some gm cleans on all the pisions and let sit for a day will come off much easyer.

Don't bother touching it, It will look like that in a very few miles. Its a internal combustion engine, black carbon is a by product of combustion.
No matter what you do the pistons will always look like that.
Plus your gonna move dirt down around the rings<I'd be more concerned about that.
Cleaning with a combustion cleaning running is the best way to go.
