Default Blocks with Windows

Hey Guys,

Need some info on the blocks that have been windowed for better bay-to-bay breathing. Was this in the Aluminum or Cast blocks? And which years? Was this modification by GM something that can be done on non-windowed blocks? Any info on this topic is helpful. Thanks in advance

If I remember correct the gen iv 7.0 block was the only windowed block...flipping thru Joseph potak book 'how to build and modify gm ls-series engines and don't see where it mentions it w any other block

Yep. Ls6 to. When I built mine I looked into it. Supposed to have better bay to bay breathing. Oil and air "vapor" can move out from the bottom of the cylinder. Making it easier for lower end to move at higher rpm.
