Default Torque Specs for valve cover?

All I have is a regular ratchet but I can call park estimate tightness. What are the torque specs?

I have the stock heads with perimeter bolts, I'm half way sure they're not 241s. Car is a 98 Trans Am. Didn't the early LS1s come with something worse than 241s?

I could not find torque specs for my perimeter bolt valve covers. All the publications only listed the center bolt valve covers. Your heads are probably 806 castings, as mine are.

Ultimately I tightened mine using a 1/4" drive ratchet as tight as I could with one hand. The first time I did it I had planned to go to 106 in-lbs, but my torque wrench only goes to 10 ft-lbs, and 106 in-lbs is about 9 ft lbs, so I tightened them to 10 ft-lbs the first time.

When I took them apart and put them back together, making them as tight as I could using one hand with a 1/4" drive ratchet felt about the same as the 10 ft-lbs, so I just did that.

That's about as tight as I went with it. That rear bolt is a bitch did as best as I could with that one.
