Default Do I Need A New Oil Pump & Timing Chain???

Hi guys I am putting the VRX4 Cam in my 2004 CTS-V with 101000 miles on it and am wondering if it is time for a new timing chain and/or oil pump??? I am reaching my budget on my mods so was considering not getting them, but if everyone thinks its a must than ill go ahead and through out the extra money. Where is a good place to purchase a new oil pump and chain?

I was also wondering if I need any new gaskets or a new crank pulley bolt? All of these gaskets and the bolt were replaced 1,000 miles ago.

Thanks Everyone...

I would do at least a ls2 chain but I really like cloyes. As far as oil pump I would call precision oil pumps and order one from them. Their pumps is all blue printed n ported etc..... really nice stuff

Yes on chain and pump. I believe you will need water pump, timing cover, intake manifold, and head gaskets if your pulling the heads. It may be time to replace valve cover gaskets. Absolutely yes on crank new pulley bolt!

Arp crank bolt, water pump gaskets (2), oil pump, o-ring, LS2 chain, new crank and cam gears. If the front timing cover gasket is only 1k miles old, I'd reuse it. Same with the front crank seal. Just be sure you have RTV ultra black to reseal to the oil pan.

Have you done lifter and trays yet? I wouldn't be too fond of dropping ANY cam in with 101k mile lifters... That's just me.

I'd drop the extra 35 bucks or so for ARP crank and cam bolts as well. You're there. Might as well.

Give Texas Speed a call and ask for Aaron. Everything is in stock and sitting on the shelf. He'll give you a good price.

Advance auto sells a felpro front engine gasket set. It comes with water pump gaskets, timing cover gasket, crank seal, and oil pump o-ring.

It's like $30 after using the online coupon codes.

I did the same thing for a melling oil pump and got it for $70.

Retailmenot.com

Usually you can find a "save 50 on 150" coupon. Just google "advance auto coupons" and it's like the first or second one that pops up.

A124 used to work. Don't know if it still does.

That's how I got a pair of Magnaflow 14419 bullets for like 100 shipped

There's a 30% one that always works.

TRT30

You can get up to a maximum of $50 savings off any order. If I have a big order, I will split them up into different orders to maximize the savings.

They have other coupons too, like $50 off $175 or more.

It's easily the best autoparts store out there. Eff autozone and pep boys and their inflated prices.
