Question rebuild question

alright new to this forum but anyways i have a 2000 pontiac trans am ws6. it has 171,000 miles i really want to do a cam in the car. would it be ok to just do the top end and maybe oil pump or should i redo bottom end too. car is not my dd just a weekend toy. car runs flawless right now no issues. thanks

Totally your call, what you've suggested will be all good. At 171k & new cam you know you are going to be abusing the car on occasion, if you have the funds build a strong short block, other wise just enjoy the cam & top end upgrade.
