Use of a 99/00 LQ4 Block - problems?
I see most people use a 01+ LQ4 due to the difference in crank/flexplate/etc. Most of these are swapping the shortblock in as/is thus the reason for 01+... We're not gonna do that...
If my sole intention is an eventual stroker build where i would be replacing the entire rotating assembly (including crankshaft)...does it matter whatsoever if the block comes from a 99/00 instead of 01+ ?

I actually have another question...
Stock LQ4 is about 9.5:1 correct? Stock LS1 is about 10:1 also?
The motor i came across is a 2001...
The stock LQ4 317's are a 72cc head. If i swapped on a set of 65cc 241's with a .040 gasket what would that bring my compression to? Would it be equal to or greater than the compression of the LS1 with the same 241's and same gasket?
I'm pretty sure this motor was already taken .020-.030 over but the cylinders look damned close to perfect. still have good crosshatch and no real grooves/marks...I'm contemplating tossing my H/C/I combo onto this 6.0 bottom end and running with that for now as opposed to my existing 114k mile LS1 bottom end...
