Help Identify This Camshaft
Help Identify This Camshaft I acquired this camshaft for my ls1 build and the guy I got it from is telling me its a GMPP hot cam but I am unable to confirm that from the numbers on the cam. Does anyone recognize these numbers. The numbers between the lobes are difficult to read. Thanks in advance
It could have started life as a stock 4.8/5.3 cam and after a bunch of miles
was sent to China and reground to Hot cam specs. E-Bay sorta deals like that
are out there. Just take a vernier caliper and measure the width of the base
circle and subtract that number from the maximum lift point of the lobe.
(12 and 6 O'clock measurement minus 3 and 9 O'clock) Goofy description I
know. Then take that number and multiply it by the rocker arm ratio (1.7) to
verify the lift. Depending on your budget you may just want to sell it and get
a new cam that has the exact specs on a card so you know what to ecpect.
