I believe that the pistons on the 4.8 and 5.3 are the same its the rods that are different lengths

Pistons will work, just get them balanced.

The 4.8L and the 5.3L use the same block.
The 4.8L has a different crankshaft, rods and pistons.

I know that the stroke on the 4.8 is shorter and IIRC the rods are longer. I do not remember the differences between the pistons. I think it is flattop for the 4.8" and ??? for the 5.3L

5.3 pistons are dished. 4.8 are flat.
