Default 383 ls1, time for a change

Current set up is 383 stroked ls1, 11.5:1 cr original heads ported with a cam around 240ish ( i cant really remember ) standard intake throttle body and fuel system. Im thinking of bumping the comp up to around 14 -15 with a holley hi ram intake with dual 4500 tb's on e85, any ideas on a new set of heads to go with it or any thoughts on this set up??? Current set up is good for 460 whp and 884 ft/lb

im also considering throwing a big hit of gas at it too, probably 200 - 300

What is the engine in ? How much rear gear ? What trans, clutch, converter ?
What is your intended usage/goals for the project ? What does the vehicle
weigh w/you in it ? Are you making a cam change in addition to the comp.
increase and E85 ? You seem to really want to rev this thing since dual 4500
TBs is the plan. 7500 rpms with a 4" arm and a potential 300 hit may spell
doom if ANY of your hard parts are not top notch.....

460 whp and 885 ft/lb you say? Is that one of those rare LS1 383 diesel's?

I wouldn't push your compression any higher for pump e85. The ethenol is good, but the 15% gasoline is the cheapest lowest quality and lowest octane scrapings from the bottom of the barrel. At high compression ratios, it will cause detonation underneath the 1st ring land. You'll end up with something like this.

If you're going to use race quality e85, like from Sunoco, then those compression ratio's will work fine.

my apologies, i just checked the flux capacitor read out on my diesel ls1 and turns out i accidently wrote down ft/lb instead of newtons, so turns out the diesel is only good for 652 ft/lbs at the wheels

key board warriors these days. . . .

hey mate

its in a 04 vy commodore ( gto for you guys ) not sure on the weight as its currently being stripped of any and all things i dont need any more, its a rolling shell atm, 6 speed manual, 4.1:1 rear gears, with local manufacturers heavy duty clutch. it was a street car for the last few years but the new laws in australia really suck a big ol bag of dicks so i decided to just track it. i spent 15 g on the build the first time round and filled it with all forged goodies and had everything in it rebuilt, including all the little things like rocker bearings. illprobably whack a new cam in while im at it depending on an engine builders advice id even go with a roller and see how far we can spin it since it wont ever see street duties again

i dont profess to have half the knowledge of some of the guys on here so i appreciate any advice form any one with some experience so thanks mate

I believe E85 mite be like 105 octane .not enough for 14 -1 compression .send your heads to AI ,they weld up chambers for $200 to raise your static compression .mite want some after market heads with thicker decks for bigger loads of NOS .
