Default Im confused

If Im running a pretty radical cam(TRex for example) how bad will a low gear hurt you?? Like if everything is equal except gears(4.10 and 2.73) 2.73 wont be optimum for performance will it?? Its kinda hard to explain... I would like a nice radical cam, but wouldnt want to sacrifice(alot of) my top end...

Thanks

could be hurting to by 1/2 second or more in the 1/4 depending on the combo & driveability of the car...becasue of mine always being pretty far down(2000rpms or less) when driving around i get the occasional buck when the converter locks up in 3rd or 4th gear...and its also less pleasant to drive with the large converter needed to optimize performance of those size cams.

Teehehe....A "nice radical" cam. Yeah, ok.

Topend? How fast are you wanting to go? Have you thought about how fast a car can go in OD with a 7200 RPM cam? About 190 MPH if you had the power to pull it (which you won't.) So if it's top speed that you're concerned with, don't be.

2.73 gears + a "nice radical" cam + (lemme guess, a stock TQ converter?) = a complete Don't even think about it.
