As you proceed along the typical path of engine modifications, such as headers, cam, heads, and intake, the air flow through the motor increases. At some point the cumulative effect of increases in air flow necessitates a corresponding increase in the size of fuel injectors. So, any time a new modification is done it may, or may not, trigger the need for large injectors.

Just make sure to have the PCM tuned when you instal the bigger injectors, a lot of people was down the cyclinder walls with fuel when the computer isn't calibrated for the increase in fuel.
