need input on LQ4 build/rebuild
I'm in the middle of swapping my '00 crank for an '02 so I can run with a T56 ('68 Chevelle conversion). The motor has 120k miles on it and everything looks good (including bearing clearance, which I didn't plan on changing). This year, I only want to get it in my car and running - completely stock - so it will last ~2k miles. Next winter I will be doing a twin-turbo setup and aiming for 800+hp.
Now that I have the crank out, the heads came off so I can push the pistons/rods back down to the crank. I'm going to swap on 317 heads since the heads are already off. But, that has me thinking, is there anything else I should do to it now? The thing is practically completely apart, so it might be convenient. I don't have the money to do a fully-forged motor, yet.
Thoughts? I don't want to needlessly spend money on rebuild components that will be replaced next year for nice stuff.
Thanks
