Heads and cam install tips/tricks
Car in sig is ready for the transplant!
I have the heads w/correct springs already installed.
BTR cam, install kit w/all the gaskets, bolts, etc.
I guess I am looking for input on BEST write-up to follow and any tips/tricks, don't do's, s#*t I screwed up, etc. to make it go smoothly as possible. Thanks in advance.

+1 there is a few things that are outdated on there but for the most part is really accurate.
If I remember correctly just don't use the factory bolt to reinstall the balancer there are better ways without having all the force on the first few initial threads. I know a lot of people striped the threads in their cranks by following the how to word for word.

you need a new balancer bolt (only $5) , the issue i had was with the small and i mean tiny wire coming off the back of the intake sensor to the computer broke. cost me $100 to diagnose & repair. cheers!

Autozone was my friend for renting tools I didn't have like a in/lb torque wrench and pulley puller. I used a threaded rod with washers to push the crank pulley back on. Get a push rod checker. Change the oil again after your first test drive, it will be watered down from all the coolant that found it's way in there.

Bringing this back up for update and more advice.
The BTR cam I got would have had p/v issues with the milled heads I have.
They are swapping it out for me
Any more advice on tear down/install? Thinking about dropping motor out bottom since I have a 2-post in my shop.........

If you have a 2 post lift. I would keep the cam you have now drop motor out the bottom and get to experience fly cutting also. And it is a lot easier on your back and legs if your not bending and leaning over the fenders or nose of the car turning wrenches for a couple days.

I had never taken an automotive class in my life and I did just fine. Matter of fact until I did H/C i didn't know **** about cars....not that I really do now but I at least have a better understanding of how everything works. Being mechanically inclined, organized and following instructions are the important parts.

Yea man if you have a 2 post lift I will def drop it out the bottom to do h/c/I. Will hanzels book ls1 how to covers step by step pic by pic which I found very useful. Like you mentioned earlier organization is def important. What I lack in mechanical ability I make up for with taking my time, research and paying attention on where everything goes haha

The best advise I could give you would be to have the camshaft degreed in. Having such a crucial engine/valvetrain item NOT installed precisely is asking for trouble imho.
