header install tomorrow I will be installing long tube pacesetters on 2000 ss. was wondering if I get input on peoples past installations on time to install. I will have a lift which I know should speed up the process
It took me two weekends and part of a third working on it about four or so hours each day. Also with a lift and doing motor mounts at the same time. I did it by myself also and i am not a mechanic. Just take your time. My general rule on car projects is whatever amount of time I think it will take me, just double that. So if I think I can do it in one weekend, count on two.
I did tsp's a couple months ago. Did the poly mount inserts- they go in one way because of the little stops/tangs I think. Easier if u have a little torch to burn the old mount off the clamshell. Only pulled the oil filter to get header in, but pulled starter to access for motor mount replacement. Also had to pull the drivers mount pedestal out to get header in the hole then bungie header to keep from falling then put motor mount and pedestal all the way in and attached header to engine. It really sucked trying to line up the bolt holes for the mounts with the header up there.lol Rt side header a piece of cake. Rt side motor mount sucked. I am so glad I have a 2post lift at home. Tsp catted y pipe no big deal even though a little trick to that too. Leave headers loose Until you have all of the exhaust is married.
