Default T Rex Cam Question

I am looking into putting a T Rex cam into my 1999 LS1. On Thunder Racings website, it says I will need computer reprogramming. What all does that consist of?? Do all of you recommend running that on a stock LS1??

Before this cam is installed I'd recommend all the boltons. What mods do you have now?? Read my sig. and see the mods I have with the cam. My car is currently @ Thunder about to get a rebuild, Absolute Stage 2 5.3 heads. And a new Moser rearend to handle the power. This is not a cam to put in the car if you don't have all the boltons.

What I am doing is putting this into a Jeep Wrangler, and running it in the sand. I have had the computer reprogrammed so there are no emissions on there, ported throttle body, gutted stock MAF, cone style K&N filter, and that is all right now. Are you not siggesting me doing this until I have more mods done??

Do you have headers? LS6 intake? This cam has to breath to make power.

make sure this is the cam you want for what your doing too...not sure what kinda rpm range youd be in normally on "sand" runs but this cam may or may not be for you...just a suggestion.

I do have headers on it, but not the LS6 intake. I was debating on weather to do the intake at the same time. I pretty much always run high RPM's on the sand dunes, so I think this would be good for me!!

you'll need to get your idle raised as well as rev limiter and fuel maps adjusted via tuning, definitly get at least a very free flowing intake an exhaust at the least.

I just had the computer rerogrammed for elimination of the emmisions and 4-L60E tranny. He said he was raising the rev limiter to 6500, but he did not raise the idle. How do I go about getting that done, and is the rev limiter high enough??

dude get a smaller cam, if your gonna be beatin the crap outta that thing with an auto stick with something that will max out @ 6300rpms or so so you can shift at like 65-6600 rpms...that cam makes peak @ 7000 meaning to take advantage of it youd need to rev past 7K...unless you have a stout bottom end & a tranny that will hold up just get something more conservative...i personally dont think the TREX is the cam for you after further investigation.

using hp tuners, ls1 edit or predator there are parameters in each program to allow this.
