Tickng motor..

Tickng motor.. This is my first LS motor so I am not sure if it's normal. But my 2002 WS6 has a tick. I only has 41xxx miles on it. Is the ticking normal or do I need to have it looked at? I am use to older carb motors, so I am still learning.

My understanding is that LS engines are typically "noisy" and the tick you're hearing is a lifter. We just sold an '01 GMC with the 4.8 that we had for 2 years and it always made the tick. Bought the truck with 80,000 miles and sold it with 120,000. Used just a little oil but towed fine and gave us no issues. Our 2004 Corvette is also a little noisy but I don't know if I notice a tick or not.
For what it is worth (which is nothing) when we traded our truck in this past weekend for a '12 GMC with the 5.3 and 14,000 miles the dealer raped me on the '01 trade saying it had a rod knocking. I called BS but what are you going to do.
