totally off topic but hows your timing and tune w/ 11.1:1 CR and 91 octain?

 

I've been adding a gallon or two of VP Racing 103 unleaded to each tank for a little boost.

It runs around town fine on 91 octane.

The tune is set at a semi-conservative ~26 degrees max timing, but was seeing up to 3.5 degrees of retard at WOT on pump gas before the engine refresh. I haven't re-AutoTapp'ed to see the timing with the race gas (just got the car back Friday), but it feels like the power is back. I think it may have lost a little timing from reduced cc's from combustion chamber deposits and PCV blow by deposits. I recently added a Greddy catch can so those shiny pistons should hopefully stay that way.

I'll log some more scanning this week.

Should of done forged bottom once it was all apart, specially your on a bottle.

 

who did your tune? i plan on running compression around the same as you and im worried about my timing and tune on 91.

 

I thought of that and I asked about it, but the extra 2k+ for rods/pistons/rings/machining/labor wasn't in the budget.

If/when I build my next motor it will be bigger cubes AND forged. This refresh is just to make sure this one doesn't pop anytime soon.

I also rarely use the nitrous.

Mark@AAP did the tune, rest his soul... ...and it's locked... ...and the original LS1Edit flash file can't be located...

If I need to make changes I will unfortunately have to start from scratch (or implement an external fix like a MAFT or Timing Tricker).

Tuning for 11-1 compression is a piece of cake. Not a big deal at all, you will just lose a little timing accross the curve if you have any detonation.
