Default Rocker support bracket

I'm putting a set of RHS 54320 heads on my engine and have done the Comp trunion upgrade to my rockers. The stock rocker supports from my LS6 (GM part #12552203) have alignment tabs cast on the bottom of the support that go around the towers in the heads. The RHS heads have larger towers and interfere with these alignment tabs.

The only recommendation I've gotten is to machine the tabs off the bottom of the stock supports. Alternately Livernois can make billet supports but they are 10x as expensive as the stock brackets ($6 per support x 2 vs. $135 a set).

Thoughts?

I see that RHS has rocker stands for the gm gen lll heads, #54201-2

I'm not sure about using the factory gm rocker stands, even with grinding the locator tabs off. I'd first make sure the gm stands are the same height. IMO, if the are the same height then use the gm stands if you want.

IMO, call RHS.

Actually I did call (and email) RHS. They were the ones that suggested milling off the stock stands.

"We do not offer the stands for those heads and I do not know of any GM or other manufacturer that offers them either. You will need to have the locating tabs machined to use your stock rocker arms. Those heads were designed for use with studs and guide plates, that is why they are not clearanced for the support stands. Removing the locating tabs should not hurt the integrity of the stands at all."

I wonder if the stands from Summit have the same locating tabs.

Default Livernois Billet Rocker Stands For LS Engines

We can get a set of those made for you. They feature wider rocker saddles to help with valve train stability as well as thicker stronger material.

Personally I just snapped the tabs off my rocker stands. No grinding or anything. They literally just snap off.

The ones Livernois sells look NICE though!
