Default what else should i do?

I am putting a lower mileage short block in my car so I am going to freshen this one up as much as I can without taking it apart. What I am adding are katech rod bolts, melling oil pump, ls2 chain, ls7 lifters, New cam, head bolts, all new gaskets. Anything else I should consider while doing this? What is difference between ls6 and ls1 valley cover?

I would pass on the rod bolts, Personally I would never touch the rod bolts with out having a machine shop resize the rods. I would also add new ls2 lifter trays to the list

The ls6 valley cover has a pipe on the front of it for the PCV system. the LS1 does not.

Sounds like you have it covered. What short block did you pick up ? What cam are you going with?

If it's an 01+ block and you don't plan on going over 6800, skip the rod bolts.

If your cam will still make power past that, then definitely do the rod bolts. The rate of Katechs rod bolts putting rod ends out of round to the point of failure is almost non-existent. The ARP's on the other hand are very hit and miss.

Just follow Katechs instructions to a T.

Also curious on cam and intended usage; other mods.

Its a 98 block so the rod bolts are a must. A lot of my friends have been using the katech rod bolts and have not had one problem and I plan on following the instructions to a T.

The cam will be a SNS stage 3 from Tick with 150 shot..

Other mods will be 243/799 heads, Fast 78, potz tb, tsp 1 7/8 headers, T/D exhaust, whisper lid, ud pulley, 78 Plate kit from N20 outlet, trunnion upgrade, FTI 3600 stall with 3.73s

I know that's random. this is mostly a street car cuz I don't need another race car. This will basically hold me over while I build another motor for the car.
