Ls1 5.7 build advice welcome I'm looking to do an ls swap in a 94 camaro. I picked up a ls1 out of a c5 for 500$ It's a dissembled long block. I'm looking to get a good drive able street car id like to get 475-500 or more hp at the wheels. I want to keep the build within budget but I'm not afraid to spend money for reliability. The machine work to the engine will not cost me any money at all due to building carbureators for many engine builders for 11 years they are all willing to take care of me. With my goal of 475-500 will stock rods with Arp bolts be fine or should I go to an aftermarket rod?
The block needs bored what would be the piston of recommendation?
I have c5 231 heads I believe. What would the price difference be in sending and having them ported vs buying other heads and having them ported or buying aftermarket heads already ported.
Would a carbureator or the efi be better to achieve my goal power wise. I need an intake anyway

475-500 on stock rods is fine.
I think you mean 241 heads, which could use some improvement. I would swap to 243 or 799 heads at the least. You can probably find a pair of them for $350 or so shipped. Porting is up to you, as is carb or EFI. Either will do.
