Default 317 heads, run them or keep saving

I'm about midway through with my lq4 and these are the parts that are in it and installed as of right this second.....

03 Lq4, stock cubic inch
brute speed blower cam
(Dur @ .050 232 int 240 exh
Lift .595 int .608 exh
Lobe Sep 115.0)
diamond pistons/eagle rods
stock crank
morel 5206 lifters
holley swap pan
SLP double roller/oil pump

These are waiting in a box next to it..........
LS9 gaskets
ebay head studs

These are what I plan to use after I decide on heads........
stock rockers with trunion upgrade
holley 750 hp
Edelbrock victor jr

Now I want to know how this will run if I use the 317's I have, obviously adding better springs. I intend to run Trick Flow 220's from Martin once I have the cash saved but that looks like it's going to be awhile. The 317's I have are untouched and stock, I'm not going to sink a grand into them sending them off any place just to take them off next summer/fall for the trick flows, they will be cleaned up and installed. Should I put them on or let the car sit another year before I can order the better heads?

317's should be okay. They're not ideal, but they'll work and probably make decent power.

Is F.I. in the future for the engine? Im guessing not due to the carb but the cam suggest otherwise? If staying N/A Id try to sell the 317's and get some stock 243's to bump compression up quite a bit and help it be a more snappy setup until you can afford the TFS heads. You could sell the 243's next year and recoupe most if not all the money back if you went this route. Im trying to decide a route to go on my 6.0 also, F.I. or N/A with a hit of NO2 for my dd. The first step is often the most difficult.

Yes it is, I want to add a procharger down the road. But that will be awhile down the road.

Honestly Id run the 317's and use the money You were gonna spend on the TFS heads towards a used D1 kit instead. New, the TFS heads would be more than half what you should be able to find a Procharger kit for on here. Maybe later on down the road the heads would be a good upgrade after you get tired of 600 or so RWHP from the procharger and 317 combo!

That sounds good to me. Would it be a turd n/a for now? Now you have me thinking I should send them away to AI for a bit of work.

Don't sink money into them yet, just run it and have fun until you can afford the blower. Otherwise you will never afford the blower changing setups so many times. 317 heads will make plenty of power.

The blower is years away, I have more important priorities first, just want this car to run again and not be a dead brick in the way. I figure I'm going to add PAC springs to the heads so I want to have them gone though as they have 120k on them anyways. I'll still be in them for half the cash of the TFS heads. I'll get a carb and intake with the savings.

If were talking years away Id buy some 243's brand new and ready to run from Kyle at Thompson Motorsports for $599 and enjoy the extra bump in compression until the funds for the blower become available. Id sell the 243's and use the 317's with the Pro Charger when the time comes, if it ever does.
