I have been searching for this answer for a week now. I googled the same subject and this page came up on ask so I thought I would freshen it up. There are plenty of people on here assembling engines and I refuse to believe that no one knows the freaking sequence. I am sure there is an on line GM manual some where. I just have to find it. I will be assembling my short block next week so I need to know soon.

http://www.gmhightechperformance.com.../photo_48.html

Torque inners, then outers, then the side bolts seems to be the sequence.

Do you think it matters where you start. I know there was a sequence to the old motors. Plus in that article they say to follow GM's sequence but not their specs.

I have been told by a couple of builders that you need to line hone the mains when switching the main cap fasteners. I'm not sure if you are doing a final assembly or what, just thought that I would share that with you.

Damn this thread is old. 2004?

Here is the torque sequence courtesy of braap, he emailed this in powerpoint and I just put it in word. This is how I would have done it had i not had a diagram anyway. I always torque most thing from the inside out.

So do you cross up? Like instead of going 12345678910 would you go 12435687910? Basically saying do the first torque of each cap on the same side, or first torque on opposite sides.
