5.3 ls piston identification
Hello I posted a question a week ago and I'm using a android phone it lets me on when it wants . Need help identifying pistons in a 5.3 I bought they don't have the casting marks in the center and they have lazer serial numbers engraved around the top edge. I'm trying to post pics but it willnot let me. Also I'mdoing a complete rebuild on it and I'm wondering if any veterans have used sealed power ch bearings with 3/4 mains before and have had any oiling problems or a slight. 001 clearance change due to the 3/4 oil grove . Every bearring I have checked has absolutely no wear whatsoever and the cylinders still have crosshatching as if it was rebuilt not long ago. I plan running twin Turbo and I'm stuck wondering what these pistons are either aftermarket or stock. Another question is the choice of piston rings I was debating on steel top ductile Iron/plasma moly second ring but I have a few old school friends that said I can use a steel second also. To just buy a extra set of top rings and put them in the second ring position. That's what they have dine running high rpm excetra doing dirt cars tractor pulls. They said using a top ring in the second ring positon will hold up better when running higher cylinder pressures and hotter temps. Like running big nitrous shots and supercharged or big turbos. Any help will be appreciated these issues.
