Default Check my math. Pushrod length.

Just want to ensure I did this right.

Used my comp adj. pushrod. Turned it 9.5 rotations. 9.5x.050"=.475"

10 turns(.500") preloaded the lifter.

At 9.5 turns, there was still .010" play in the rocker. So I added that to get .485

.485+6.8" base of the pushrod gets me to 7.285.

+.040" lifter preload puts me at 7.325" total.

Did I do this right? Got it to zero lash AFTER the rocker was torqued to 22 lb ft. Correct?

How did you measure the 0.010" play at 9.5 turns? If you used a feeler gauge at the valve stem, you need to account for the rocker ration, i.e., it would only be about 0.006".

Other than that looks OK. Not sure what lifters you are using but the GM lifters are pretty forgiving.

Yea I used a feeler gauge.

I'm running morel 5290 lifters. Require .030 to .050" preload if I'm not mistaken.

I run my Morels right at 0.050" preload. They are very quiet. If you have a dial indicator, you can verify preload when you install. Also, if the lifters are new, you may want to just double check your measurement. I found when they were new and not pumped up with oil yet it was very easy to move the plunger and get inaccurate readings on the pushrod measurement.

Ok thanks for the tip. I checked it three times on two different lifters and it seemed to be the same every time. Within a few thousandths.

sounds like you are good to go bud!
p.s. My 853s were milled 10 thou+ valvejob+ BTR slr lifters all changing my pr length. But after checking 4 times w/2 methods @.050 preload I got 7.30 pushrods.

I based my pre load at .060"and ended up with 7.435 required. I'm new at this but did the same math. Should work (I hope)
