radiator = bitch/ have fun with this damn thing...it will make you lose your religeon... lol... make sure all the water is out and all your hoses are disconeccted and for the love of God, make sure your A/C is disconnected before you start pulling on the radiator...

springs = bigger bitch/ take your time on the last two on the passenger side. and do the drivers side FIRST, so that you dont get discouraged.

cam = easy/ just turn the cam over as you put it in to slide it through the bearings.

water pump = fairly easy, have a friend help you when you put it back on.

timing set = fairly easy, have a puller ready to get the old one off and maybe even a new bolt with NO head on it so you have somthing to pull against by putting it all the way in the crank (flush with the snout)

just take your stinkin time and dont drop the keys.!!! believe me, i know from experience!!!!!! use a pin magnet to get the keys out with use the rods from HD to hold the lifters. get a good valve spring compressor. get 2 gallon dexcool. get a bucket. get a million paper towels, get band-aids, get drinks, and pizza.

good luck!!!!!!!!

Which spring compressor are you using? How are you holding your lifters up? Are you doing a new timing chain?

I would recommend using the top dead center method while changing the springs. You can find the details on ls1howto.com under cam & valvespring swap.

Use a magnet tool to pick up and keep track of the valve locks. Put a little grease on the locks to hold them on the valve stem when you're putting the new springs on.

You're probably already done by now, but if you're changing the timing chain that means you have to take the oil pump off. Use a new oil pump o-ring, take the cover off the oil pump and take the gears out. This will let you bolt the pickup tube on without pinching the o-ring. Also don't waste your time trying to bolt the pickup tube without dropping the oil pan an inch or so. I've done it so i know it's possible, but it's hard and takes more time than dropping the pan.
