Default Oil pan

I posted this on the newbie forum but didnt get many replies.

I need to fit my lq9 with a front sump oil pan. Most of the used GTO pans are going for well over $ 250 on ebay. Ive lost three auctions. I can buy a Canton for less than that. It is my understanding that the OE pans are a structural part of the block, how much will an aftermarket pan affect the integrity on the block? Is OEM the only safe way to go?

Thank you
OJ

Maybe someone else will chime in to say for sure, but being that you have an iron block lq9, I don't think you have anything to worry about with an aftermarket pan. I think that the cast aluminum pans are more so designed for increasing structural strength of aluminum blocks.
