Default Factory rocker arm bearings

Let's hear some opinions on whether or not to do the trunnion upgrade on the factory rockers or not. I'm using a .581 lift cam.

Especially if you have some miles on them I'd do it. It was very easy to do with a few sockets and a vise.

For me there is no real good reason not to do the trunnion upgrade because the factory rockers are known to shoot needle bearing into the motor.

I would do it even if you had a stock cam with any real mileage on the vehicle. Is it necessary? No. Not unless you're already loosing needle bearings. But it's designed to be preventative maintenance so that you do not have issues in the future.

I'd make sure to look over all the rocker bearing and end caps very carefully, the end cap have a tendency to work there way out over time.
I did my trunion upgrade myself with a small $60 arbor press, but a good bench vise will do fine. Just take you time and the install should be flaw free.

That's what I was thinking. What I was fishing for is if anyone has had any problems with their particular engines letting some bearings loose. The car's only got 53,000 on it.

I'm at almost 172k and will be doing the bearing upgrade with new heads/cam.

Just be careful with the clips that you don't over-extend them and weaken their ability to stay put.

I see no reason not to do the trunion upgrade. It took me 20 minutes to do using a bench vice
