Default ca smog legal cam

i have an 04 gto and will be switching to 243/799 heads due to a crack in one of my stock 241s. I figured i might as well swap the stock ls1 cam out but want to stay ca smog legal since it is my dd. i always will be running jba shorties with stock cats, slp lm1 and diablosport intune. any suggestions??

Your going to want a higher stall TC first(3000-3600 range) , or at the same time as the cam.
So are you wanting a completely stealthy stock sound or some cam sound, aggressive cam lobes that make more power or milder lobes that offer better valvetrain life and high rpm stability ?
How high do you want/plan to spin the motor?
What's more important to you, low-midrange power or top-end power ?

IMO, I'd get those head milled down to about a 61-62cc chamber size for a nice SCR bump into the 10.6 to 11.0 range, depending of course on head gasket thickness used. With a smaller smog cam you won't have any problems with PTV clearance.

FYI, if getting a new higher TC, and cam together are not a option then do the TC first.
