Default looking for 402 build help?

Hello, I am an experienced old school motor builder but new to the whole ls1 build stuff...I have a 2001 chevy SB 4X4 with a ...4.8....in it...after about 1500.00 woth of add ons and work, guess what..? It still sucks, so I am going all in and going to build a 402 for it (yes the tranny will have to go) but most all the the threads here are about high reving horse power mods...I want a low reving motor that builds stupid torque numbers so that I can just thump around the woods and pull my fith wheel occansionally....Any sugestions for starters?

well the stroker paired with a torque cam will get you there easily. Talk with a cam grinder and you should be golden

I have a truck engine mated to stock 243 heads. If you're wanting to stay budget friendly, the 243 head is very very good. It flows great and has good compression.

There is a thread on here called "torque coming out of my ears" linked in one of the sticky threads. It is very heady reading, but there is a very good discussion on building good torque with a camshaft change. Ultimately, you still need to talk to a cam grinder, but the thread is worth reading to learn from. I reread it from time to time, because I keep picking up new tidbits.
