I'm just wondering what the recommended preload is for a ls7 lifter. I ran .0050 preload before but had valve tip issues. Right now with my 7.450 pushrods that I have I'll end up at .0090 preload is that acceptable.

 

IMO, it's acceptable but on the high side, so I'd check the preload on several more cylinders to make sure none are higher than .09". IMO, if any are higher than .09" I'd go consider going down to 7.425" PRs. IMO .05" preload is to low with the LS7 lifters. I ran .085" preload before and found it rather noisy, so I stepped down to .060" preload with shorter PR's and the valve train is noticeably quieter.

 

The range is .050-.100" with .075" being probably closer to the sweet spot for them.

 

Ohhh...the LS7 lifter....

I ran them all over the place trying to get them to quite down and they never did. I pulled them and installed Brian Tooley SLR lifters, which I don't even think he sells anymore. He now sells Johnson SLR lifter, more $.

My noise is quieter but still have some, I blame the lobes on my cam.
