dot to dot question
I just want to make sure I'm installing cam right. I have 6 speed car. I rotate crank till 12 o' clock and then go put the car in 4th gear and then tighten crank gear. It moves just a little bit to the right(maybe a few teeth. I line up cam gear but it's like a half a tooth off and I tried for hours and couldn't get it totally lined up. Is this ok?

Sorry for confusion. I had them both like the picture above but when i tighten the crank bolt the crank moves a little by about half a tooth. Or does no one else's crank move when tighented down

If everything is lined up and the chain is on, it doesn't matter if the crank turns after the fact. She's still lined up.
Dot-to-dot is simply lining up the cam timing with the crankshaft timing so that the cam opens and closes the valves in sequence with piston movement. Those dots spin around once the engine fires up. You're just lining up those dots to ensure that the engine does, in fact, fire up.

I seriously applaud you for learning to do this stuff on your own. Seriously though, do yourself a favor. Go buy one of those clear engine models that you can spin over to get the basic operation of internal combustion. It would be a very expensive lesson to learn on a real motor. Good luck to you.

Why wood you be turning the crank bolt with the cover off? Just line um up and go.........I'm assuming you mean when you tighten the cam bolts on the upper cam gear. YES THAT WOOD BE NORMAL.?
