Default First time pulling my heads. Should I even attempt?

I'm not very happy with the results after my cam install (my fault). So now I need to port my heads and get a fast 92 and TB to wake that cam up (Hellion).

Should I even attempt to do the job? I did the mounts a few weeks ago and after doing that job I feel like I can tackle any job now lol.

Pulling the heads is easy. Porting them, prolly should leave it up to the professionals. lol TEA, AI, WCCH..etc

I plan on sending them to AI. I saw TSP has a sale on the fast 92 right now. Is 830$ a good deal? Should I grab it now or wait to see if another deal comes up over the winter?

Brand New that price is killer. Used may be better priced, but I would buy it new if it's that cheap.

Livernois is here in MI near Detroit. Scotty I would just give the heads to a reputable shop. This is something you don't want to mess up

That's my plan. I just wasn't sure if it's a complicated job to remove and reinstall them.

It's a bit of a pain to get to all the bolts since the heads are half under the cowl.

But the only real challenge is making sure you get all of the coolant out of the bolt holes before reinstalling the heads. If you don't, you'll crack your block since fluid doesn't compress.

Thanks for the info. It will be a nice winter project and give me time to search for the most qualified place to do the head work. Or maybe they can just email me the program and I can do it at my work lmao.

I just got my 243 heads back from AI after having their 232cc program. I have to say they look Awesome, but it will be a bit before the car is back together and running.

Phil was great to deal with so I have no problem recommending him.

Thanks Kerry. I took a peak at their website yesterday. I was pretty impressed with the video they had of a customers head being machined. Results looked great.

I ordered a fast 92 and TB last night from WS6 store. Just over1200$ What a steal! I'm curious too see how much my mph will go up with adding the intake and TB. it's currently at 112mph.

"Scotty2000ss" It's a good size job to remove the heads on one of those cars depending on what kind of tool selection and wrenching facilities you have to work with. We can knock out the whole project for you. We pick up cars from the East coast all the time.

As long as you have the time and patience, and have or can borrow the tools you need, along with all the info you need to do the job correctly(tightening sequences, torque specs, etc...) removing/installing the heads is not hard at all. Porting on the other hand I'd have to agree with others, leave it to the pro's!

What heads and intake are currently on the car?
What gears?

That's a LOT of stick to be running. You obviously had it tuned... What was your MAP reading at WOT?

I just ordered the fast 92 with fast 92 tb. The heads are stock 241s. I have ARH with cats going to a borla cat back and 3:90s. I believe the cam is an Ed Curtis cam (correct me if I'm wrong) I bought it through New Era Performance. who also tuned the car. I dont know the MAP reading at WOT.

Heads aren't allowing that cam to breathe... At all. The Fast will help, but the heads will still be a bottleneck.

It is an EDC grind. Correct.

Mike tuned it then. He's a great tuner. What all did he have to say? I'm certain he threw some suggestions out...

Exactly what you said. As of now I'm planning on sending them to AI over the winter. My goal is to get into the 11s on the stock rear. Once I blow it up I'll throw a strange in its place. As of now my mph is at 112 which sucks a##.

I agree, the heads look gorgeous. Almost too nice to put back on.
