It will need a good .650+ double spring and pushrods. That being said, I'm not sure you are going to like it in your 5.3. That's a really large cam for that size of a motor. You will most likely find that it lacks power in the lower rpm band. I'd be more inclined to run something in the 218-224 range

I agree with you on the size. does that still hold true with a blower? also, why are different pushrods required? I'll definitely purchase the springs. What kind of cam gear and chain do I get? stock or ls2?

It does. You won't be at full boost, if any at all, at lower rpm. It might not bother you and you can always change it later if need be. It just wouldn't be very responsive under normal driving conditions.

The stock pushrods will most likely be the incorrect length and they tend to flex and bend under the heavier load.

For a timing set, the ls2 stuff works really well, especially for the cost. Otherwise, a single roller Cloyes or Rollmaster would be my choice. I really like to go aftermarket when being really being hard on the motor or larger hp goals

I'd run a lot smaller cam like the Cam Motion Blower Stage 1(220/228 114lsa+4) or TICK Stage 1 v2 Blower cam(223/235 116lsa+5).

IIRC that cam was destined for a 390 and it ended up going to a turbo build instead of the planned blower build.

IMO it's way too big for a 5.3.

TSP has given you some good advice regarding valve train components. We use the LS2 chain in a lot of builds that won't see sustained RPM above 6800-7000rpm and it works great just like TSP mentioned. Agree 100% on the push rods as well.

7.400" technically should work, but measuring for zero lash push rod length and then adding your desired pre load to that is the only fool proof way to ensure you have the correct push rod.
