Default Will my cam be ok for a 383ci setup?

I am doing an LS1 swap into my 70's Holden and originally I was doing to just do a freshen up of the engine plus a carbie swap (Edelbrock Vic Jr mani). For this I bought the ***** thumpr cam(227/241) kit from compcams running with the original 241 cast heads (no porting at this stage).

Thanks to a local casino trip being rather fortuitous rather than just freshen up the engine, I have now bought a COME Racing 383ci stroker (http://www.comeracing.com/catalog/ki...um-stroker-kit) instead. I went with the high compression pistons so will probably run around 11:1 comp ratio on our 98 octane pump fuel.

I know it isn't as ideal as a custom ground cam but I will tackle that later when I build a meatier setup. So I guess the question is, will it suffice for now and still provide decent power/driveability or am I just pissing into the wind and it will be horrible?

If I were you I would at least talk to someone that knows cams especially when going with the vic jr/carb setup. I have heard tuning in more timing with the carb makes that setup shine. The intake likes high rpms for sure so with the extra cubes u need more cam to spin it also. Your making lots of changes and I'm in the same boat with a 418 going in my T/A right now.
The cam was specked at Tick by Martin so I'm good there but I don't think it will even start or run without loading up with my stock tune and 45lb injectors.
Put up some pic's up if u can. I love the carbed ls1 look!

Good Luck sounds like a hot set up.

At this stage it is all in bits and pieces as I'm waiting for the crank/rods/pistons to arrive so can send the whole lots off to the machinist. Will def get pics when it is all together though. At this stage I think I might go with a bigger cam after all since it is all still apart and the old 1 is brand new in box so should sell easily enough. THanks for the info re: timing will keep an eye on it

Your current cam will most certainly work, but it is not optimal.
